Hello everyone, hope you guys made a good start to the New year. In this session, I'll be talking about defragmenting your hard drive. I know the word 'Defragment' spooks everyone out a bit, but its a very simple technique which you can use to optimize and speed-up your cluttered hard-drive.
Basically, when you download a large application, your system installs the file to your harddisk into lots of tiny fragments. So next time when you wish to run the application, your system searches your hard-drive and joins these tiny fragments together to open up the whole thing, which can take a lot of time if you have many such big applications to open at once. This is where defragmentation comes in handy.
There are many freeware defragmenting software available on the internet, along with windows own system defrag, which Im sure none of you digg coz its really slow and more often than not functions very poorly in times of need. The one which I use personally is Jkdefrag. Its a small application which is very effective. You can download it from http://www.kessels.com/JkDefrag/
Hope you liked this tutorial. Do feel free to write comments on how this blog can be improved. Cheers to everyone

PC for Dummies(That Includes me aswell)
Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog titled "PC for Dummies(That Includes me aswell)". I think you already know what I will be dealing with in this blog, yup you are absolutely spot on - "Computer" related stuff. I will write short tutorials and include references from other sources, on using different softwares, hardware install and troubleshooting, programming and a whole bunch of other topics. My main aim through these series of tutorials will be to make the already confusing stuff as simple as possible for you to understand and apply to your needs. So WELCOME ABOARD.
To start off, a few queries regarding an alternative to the adobe reader. Apparantly, adobe reader is causing a lot of problems for users which includes frequent hang ups, extra memory usage, opening PDF documents from different browsers etc etc. So after some research of my own, I found a very handy little PDF reader called "foxit" which is not only small in size(2Mb as opposed to Adobe's 20Mb), but it is incredibly fast to open my pdf documents. Do try out this tool, its available from foxit's website at http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
I hope you enjoyed this short tutorial to start off my blog. Keep visiting my blog for more on the ever improving world of Information and Communication Technology. Have a nice day
